Job Mwamburi is a Senior Research Scientist (SRS) at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), Freshwater Systems, Limnology Research Department, Kisumu Research Centre, where he has served from 1989 to date. He is involved and has participated in several collaborative and individual research projects and activities, geared towards understanding sources, distribution, concentration levels and effects of environmental contaminants in lentic and riverine ecosystems; and water quality monitoring in different watersheds in Kenya, to inform and guide the sustainable management of inland fisheries and water resources. He was a task coordinator on monitoring of pollution in Lake Victoria (2010-2012) under Lake Victoria Environmental Management Project (LVEMP) Phase II. He coordinated multidisciplinary research projects under the KMFRI's Ecology and Environment Research Program (2003-2004; 2007-2012); and the Fish Biology and Biodiversity Conservation sub-component of the Fisheries Research Component under LVEMP phase I from January 2004-2006. He participated in the water quality monitoring program (WQMP) Technical Coordination Committee, under the Lake Victoria South Water Services Board (LVSWSB) and was a member of the Cyanobacteria monitoring program (2019).
