The Museum Section is a specialised unit under the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) dedicated to the collection, preservation, documentation, research, and exhibition of Kenya’s marine and freshwater biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Our museum serves as an educational and scientific resource that promotes awareness, appreciation, and conservation of aquatic ecosystems and their resources.

Our Mandate

To collect, conserve, document, interpret, and showcase marine and fisheries resources while supporting research, education, and public awareness on aquatic biodiversity and ecosystem conservation.
