Alice holds an MSc. in Biochemistry and a BSc. (Biochemistry and Chemistry) from the University of Nairobi and she is currently based in Naivasha station. Ms. Mutie has collaborated in the implementation of several projects funded by different donors both locally and internationally.

Currently her research entails aquatic ecosystem health assessment in rivers and lakes. She is also interested in value addition and natural products bioprospecting from fisheries products.

She has participated in several community open forums, workshops, and conferences both in and outside the country.
