Nicholas Karani
A research scientist in the socio economics department. Have a BSc. in Environmental Planning and Management and pursuing MSc. in Environmental Economics. The strong back ground in environmental and social science and knowledge in economics has helped build and shape my career research line. I have been involved in many studies including, Livelihood impacts and adaptation in fishing practices in response to changes in the upwelling region under EACC; Economic analysis on Fish Aggregating Devices, seaweed farming, mariculture activities and small scale fisheries; and assessment of endangered species i.e. the Dugongs and Sea cucumber.
Besides research I am a certified Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit (EIA & EA) expert registered by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA); Quality Management System (QMS) internal auditor; Performance Contracting secretariat; and Balance Score Card (BSC) expert. With the professional knowledge, I help KMFRI achieve on its mandate and objectives.
