The Project is part of the Belmont Forum call for Collaborative Research Actions (CRA) towards Pathways to Sustainability. The Project which started in August 2021, will undertake SSF assessment in six countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Madagascar, Mexico and Nigeria) using a Rapid Appraisal Framework tool developed during the first phase of the Project (WP1).

In Kenya the project is hosted by KMFRI and will be undertaken in collaboration with Kenya Fisheries Service, The Technical University of Mombasa and The Nature Conservancy with funding from the National Research Foundation of South Africa.
