The State of the Coast Report 2nd Edition was officially handed over by KMFRI Chief Scientist Dr Edward Kimani to the Director NEMA on the 29th March at Azul Margarita Beach Resort, Mombasa.  Production of the report was supported by the Indian Ocean Commission Biodiversity Project. The report was prepared by KMFRI experts, led by Dr Kimani in collaboration and consultation with experts in each sector as well as resource users and managers from the coast region. The report contains 9 technical chapters focusing on the coastal environment, ecosystems and biodiversity, species of special concern, coastal communities, land and water resources, economic activities, major threats and impacts on coastal and marine biodiversity, governance and emerging issues related to the Blue Economy.
